My practice explores the parasitic relationship between humans and technology. We have become ever dependent on technology built to collect our data whilst it offers us conveniences and connectivity. As users, we are both suspicious and reliant on it. This only continues to grow. It is easy to imagine a future where technology is part of our clothes, infrastructure, and even within our bodies.
In my artwork, I create this world through intricate, large-scale drawings. The work is a prediction. What if technology keeps on its evolution powered by human hands for it one day to turn its power back on us? Is the future world being parasite by technology?
Inspired by Japanese Manga, the work tells the story of an imagined world populated with characters and details of everyday life. The medium chosen for my topic is digital drawing. It is not only because of using digitalize images that are relevant to a futuristic worldview and digital era is suitable, but also demonstrating the relationship between humans and technology. The process of using the digital drawing tool to make art would become an interactive trace of humans and technology.
I create works that tell a fiction story is because I am interested to create a world, creatures, and stories which come from me. I enjoy the process to create a setting for something, which gives me a sense that something belongs to me. Moreover, I enjoy the process that the story is shared and kept into the viewer’s mind, which lets the world is becoming true just like the sort of myth and rumor created. It becomes my motivation to undergo the art project.
The work presents a cautionary tale. It aims to warn the viewer of over-dependence on technology, which may affect human civilization and existence in the future.
我的議題為探究人類與科技的寄生關係。日新月異的科技為人類提供了不少便利，而這些便利令身為使用者的人類愈發依賴科技，但在把它當作依賴的對象的同時，無疑人們會有對它存疑的時候。但科技依然會發展下去，及至人們的衣服上，及至人們的基建中，及至人們的體內……
我的創作是以大型的插畫將這個預測的未來世界細緻地呈現。假如科技經人的手繼續它進化的腳步，變得愈發強大，然後回饋至人類自身？未來的世界會否經已被科技的產物所寄生了？
在日本動漫作品的啟發下，我的創作會把這個想像的未來世界、其中的人事物及其日常生活展現。選用的媒體是電腦繪圖，它不僅與充斥著未來科技的故事世界觀相關，而且還呈現了人類與技術之間的關係。 使用數字繪圖工具製作藝術品的過程會成為人類與技術的互動痕跡。
我創作包含故事的作品是因為我渴望創造一個來自我的世界，生物和故事。 我喜歡創造設定某個事物的過程，這使我感覺到該事物確實屬於我。我亦認為故事被分享並保存在觀眾腦海中的過程，會令作品呈現的世界變得真實，就像過去創造出來的神話和謠言一樣，這也成為我進行這個創作的動力。
這個故事是一個警示，旨在提醒對技術的過度依賴會影響未來的人類文明和存在意義。
